At Liberty Motors Pleasantville, we specialize in helping customers with bad credit get into reliable used cars. One question we hear often is:
“Why don’t you offer a free warranty like some other dealers?”
Here’s the honest answer.
Why Free Warranties Are Difficult on Older Used Cars
Most vehicles we sell are 3 to 10 years old with higher mileage. Here’s why offering a meaningful free warranty is challenging:
- High Repair Risk: Older cars have more mechanical wear. A free warranty could cost the dealer thousands per vehicle if multiple repairs are needed.
- Cost of Coverage: Extended warranties from reputable providers are expensive. Dealers who advertise “free warranties” often either:
- Sell much newer cars, or
- Offer very limited “dealer warranties” that only cover basic items for 30 days.
- Buy Here Pay Here Reality: Many of our customers need lower prices and flexible financing. Adding a full warranty increases the price significantly.
The Good News: You Can Still Protect Your Purchase
Even though we can’t offer long free warranties on most of our inventory, we make service contracts and extended warranties available and affordable through trusted providers.
Options We Offer Include:
- Powertrain coverage (engine, transmission, drivetrain)
- Comprehensive coverage (almost everything except wear items)
- Different term lengths (12 months / 12,000 miles up to 60 months / 60,000 miles)
- Flexible payment plans — can often be rolled into your car payment
Our Recommendation
For most customers buying a 5–8 year old vehicle:
- A service contract is usually a smart investment
- It gives you peace of mind without dramatically increasing your monthly payment
- We only recommend reputable providers so you’re truly protected
Bottom Line
We focus on getting you into a reliable car you can afford with payments you can manage. While we can’t give long free warranties on older vehicles, we make real protection available and transparent.
